Nicotato started as a stationery brand. Journals, notebooks, personalizable covers — things I loved making and that people loved giving as gifts.
Then I became a mom.
While I was expecting my daughter, I made her a children's book starring our three dogs. Then I painted a mural in her room. Then came stickers, little art prints, a foldable Twinkle Twinkle Little Star book with dinosaur lyrics that she could fold and unfold herself. I just kept making things for her, and somewhere along the way I realized: this is where my heart actually is.
Kids art. Illustrated things made for little hands. Products that are beautiful enough for a parent to want them in the house and fun enough for a toddler to actually use.
That's what Nicotato is becoming now.
Hi, I'm Nicolet Barclay, the illustrator and owner behind Nicotato. The name comes from my nickname "Nico" and my Idaho roots — land of the famous potato. I wanted something personal and a little playful, just like the work itself.
Everything I make starts as a drawing. I illustrate each design by hand, then turn it into something a toddler can hold, match, fold, and play with. No screens, no batteries. Just illustration and a bit of fun.
